And, then this happened. Last weekend had to be one of the greatest moments I've experienced in an incredibly, long time.
While in town for ' 50 Years of Fashion at the Phoenix Art Museum', Fashion Icon, Bob Mackie stopped by and got comfy, intimate, kept it real, plus dropped some pearls of wisdom along the way.
You've got to stay flexible in everything - Bob Mackie
What's it like to be a bestie of Bob Mackie's? Just ask, Dan Guerrero of Tucson, AZ (currently residing in West Hollywood, CA) and award-winning producer of diverse programming for network and cable television and of live arts and culture concert events; as they've been friends for many, many years and just returned from a recent trip to Cuba. Dan, will be headlining his wildly, successful autobiographical solo show, Guerrero Fest brought to us by MyMexMusic at Live on Central, Herberger Theatre and AZ Latino Arts and Cultural Center, April 14 - 17, 2016. Bob Mackie stopped by to see us, as a favor to him. Boy, are we grateful!
He walked through the door, but I was around the corner and couldn't see him and was meddling with something, I'm almost positive...I turned around and saw light--a trail of it. It was golden and then he stepped into it. All, I could do was smile, as he was liquid sunshine; powerful, impeccably dressed (in fact, I have NEVER seen anyone that pressed before in my entire life--he and Joe were the crispest folks I've ever encountered, EVER), and knows how to command a room. He removed his coat and tie and took a seat on our comfy couch and was eager to help us in anyway he could. He was flexible, in fact he was quoted saying, "you have to be flexible in everything..."
He spoke about how phenomenal Dan's show, Gaytino (Guerrero Fest) is and it's history, which rings to the tune of it's actual description, as Guerrero Fest is an event that commemorates the centennial birthday of Chicano music legend Lalo Guerrero, and celebrates the lifetime achievements of Lalo's eldest son Dan.
He also spoke about his determination and how he knew what he was going to do for the rest of his life at the age of 12. He shared his infinite wisdom about fashion's current state of affairs and some of the amazing work he's created. Upon leaving, Grand Coffee Talk and Hunny Sweet Treats gifted him a basket full of Hunny Sweet Treats, including it's Praline Bars. That's when he shared the tidbit about how well-versed he was in Praline as he once used to make them himself. Well, anyone that knows me, know I stand behind EVERY thing I put my name on, so I fired back, "these will be the best Praline Bars you've ever had." Check below to see his response.
Yaaaaas!!! This is EVERYTHING! When Bob Mackie himself tells you something, one better take heed, including getting over to see Guerrero Fest -- have you purchased your tickets yet?
This interview and write-up is 1 of 3, so please enjoy this installment and I'll see you in a couple of days with more beans to spill!

*Swish, scratch, swish*...went the brushes and palm swipes of seven-subtly, eager artists against their roughly-textured and prepped canvases. Resonating incredibly soothing feels, like a medium-bristled brush being lovingly and carefully raked through her hair. It gave her the chills (click to read more of the sample and purchase)...
She, steadily walked down the busy road, yet there were no appropriate sidewalks and cars were whizzing by. At any given time, there may have been a million questions/comments/thoughts/replays/intentions and words traveling along the synapses of her nerve endings, overflowing her system and blowing her mind (click to read more of the sample and purchase)...
