![]() ...at 12:35pm, things are cracking at Starbucks on 1st and Washington Streets (Phoenix, AZ). Actually, the entire “square” is popping at this hour. Things are in full swing and an abundance of life fills the gaps that are normally peaceful and calm. I’m excited about this non-overwhelming liveliness. Yes, I know everyone’s on lunch and shuffling about, scurrying for a moment’s sunshine and reprieve from the recycled air, computer screens, water coolers and cheaply woolen dividers, that forms their “place” in the world. Even in the depth of it, a calmness still spreads and circulated--almost like, “ordered madness” but, effortlessly. ...at 12:44pm, things are settling into a hand-crafted and thoughtfully warm bowl of conversation, shared by smiling faces and a gentle hush. The diversity has seemingly deepened by this time, and embraced respectfully. Not a care is given, there’s no panic, no rushing; just a flow of folks that haven’t forgotten to live, abundantly. ...at 12:51pm, is when IT happened. She walked in, regally garbed and elegantly poised. She’s who I’ve been waiting on, the attention grabber...hold it...hold it...that’s her, my conversation piece. She’s someone I’d like to know--she exudes interesting and is lathered in infinite wisdom and depth. Whimsically, she fluttered by and poof, was gone, just like that. She’s totally made my day. ...at 12:57pm, things are winding down...everyone’s returning to the second half of their day, as I sit joyfully filled with all of their magnificence, leaving me in delight and grateful that I was able to drink in such a splendid moment. ~Smooches & Namaste

![]() Often, I perform what I like to call, “field research”, which entails getting into the thick of things sometimes and sometimes asking questions that many wouldn’t dare ask. In light of many conversations, with extremely enlightened folks, I’ve recently learned just how many are not aware of the insurmountable layers that composes us. This new information (new to me) has left me wondering and questioning just how many of us, really believe themselves to be one-dimensional. The nature of complexities, insinuates that there’s so much more than meets the eye. Any eye, the pair or third. We are complex humans correct? How many people have you met that only possess one type of behavior or personality trait? Again, that would lead one to be assured that we are everything but, one dimensional or one temperature or suited for only one task in life. Why is it so important for us to portray that we’re only one kind of person? And, why is it even more important to hide the many other layers of self? Why are we in such a rush to figure it all out at once; to have all the answers, right now? The many layers that’s nested within, is a compilation of a plethora of factors. Isn’t that the very thing(s) that makes us unique and individuals? I, believe the first step to self-realization is to know that one’s beautiful mess is a a garden full of an assortment of flowers, wild and otherwise--along with weeds, soil, seeds, darkness, light, and other composites that make up the very patchwork of such an aesthetically, warm delight. Perception is everything; it’s our reality. To believe we’re one-dimensional isn’t very self-loving as that belief, places limitations upon self and doesn’t allow room for our grand selves to appear--to show up and show out. In witnessing the behavior of others (right, wrong or indifferent), one is reflected tons of their own behavior back and it’s up to us to grab as many of those precious pearls to either polish, enhance, correct, celebrate, embrace, love and/or all of the above. There’s levels to this shit--random and not so random particles of life are doled and sometimes hurled at us at the same time...in peeling back the layers of self, one is better equipped to gracefully, proficiently, and lovingly handle all that it brings. It would allow us to be more loving, empathetic, understanding and accepting of others. The true beauty of self lies well beyond the surface and in a non-tangible depth, that’s waiting to be disturbed, recognized, embraced and loved as it’s cup runneth over and is bubbling in anticipation to be shared with the world. I’m not sure how many people this message will actually reach and/or move--but, if it assists in just one soul, that’s willing to unlock their true selves and encounter an overwhelming, abundance of blessings, then my job has been done. ~Keep the love alive and Namaste. |
