Greetings, Kittens! It has been a wee bit since I've last written anything, as I took a much needed breather and hiatus. Instead! I traveled, explored and simply experienced life. I'd like to share some of it with you.
I've always said that an artist must actually experience life to be able to produce and convey their story through their work. Life takes lots of hard work and effort, it's a matter of fearlessly, thrusting one's self into the unknown and being comfortable with and faithful to the mission.
Six weeks ago, I began a trek that led me home, to the beautifully, gritty and culturally-enriched, Chicago. It was my grandmother's 86th year of being firmly planted on this earth and it was time to celebrate it. Upon my arrival, she (Granny) was in decent enough spirits and was completely shocked to answer her doorbell and see my smiling face, standing on the other side of the door. She smiled BIG then, immediately caught herself because she didn't have time to let on just how happy she really was to see me. She had been slightly perturbed with me as I hadn't seen her in a year and a half after my permanent move to Phoenix. We worked through that swiftly and with ease, which returned the broad smile back that had recently greeted me at the door.
Granny is an artist, I've always known her this way, creatively decadent. I gave her, her gift and in true Granny form, she opened it methodically and without bruising a piece of tape, paper or ribbon. That smile returned. She was pleased with the art supplies I'd taken my time to pick out for her. It made everything alright with the world. The very next day, I got to spend some time with my brother and bestie and then head on over to the festivities in honor of my beautiful grandmother. Life was good and all was right in the world.
She had the time of her life, while being surrounded by family and friends both old and new, and an outpouring of love and respect; kindness and joy. I'm so grateful this was the beginning leg of my journey as she nourished my soul, just as much as I did hers. <3

*Swish, scratch, swish*...went the brushes and palm swipes of seven-subtly, eager artists against their roughly-textured and prepped canvases. Resonating incredibly soothing feels, like a medium-bristled brush being lovingly and carefully raked through her hair. It gave her the chills (click to read more of the sample and purchase)...
She, steadily walked down the busy road, yet there were no appropriate sidewalks and cars were whizzing by. At any given time, there may have been a million questions/comments/thoughts/replays/intentions and words traveling along the synapses of her nerve endings, overflowing her system and blowing her mind (click to read more of the sample and purchase)...
