It's a picturesque, snowy day here in Santa Fe. I awakened with an abundance of gratitude this morning. Today, marks the observation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I'm grateful to be able to participate in another day and especially one as poignant as this one.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
As most of you know, Dr. King contributed so much to the world (if you're unaware of his contributions, my suggestion is that you do a tad bit of research), this country and for folks that look like me. I wouldn't be sitting here writing this piece, had it not been for his efforts, works, diligence and tenacity. Our outgoing President wouldn't have been afforded to be Commander in Chief, had it not been for him.
My ability to drive 8 hours to cast my vote was because of the foundation this man laid for me. He was partially the reason I insisted on voting, along with various other reasons, of course.
Today, before I hit the ground running (I've been up and doing that since 5am), I wanted to take a minute to simply say, "Thank you" to the very person that fought without fail and the very reason why I'm able to get up and hit the ground running, freely. Thank you for your sacrifices (including the ultimate sacrifice, your life), your firm beliefs, your tenacity, your ability to see and convey the truth in spite of the consequences. Thank you for your boldness, for spreading #loveandlight , for teaching and sharing; for your courage, your brilliance and leaving behind an amazing legacy that has given me the courage to step out on faith.
Thank you for teaching me to keep pushing and if I get knocked down (7) times, get up (8). Simply, thank you and wherever you are, my prayer and hope is that you're happy and peaceful and no longer have to fight. That there is no pain and you can simply smile which sparks the light within us.

*Swish, scratch, swish*...went the brushes and palm swipes of seven-subtly, eager artists against their roughly-textured and prepped canvases. Resonating incredibly soothing feels, like a medium-bristled brush being lovingly and carefully raked through her hair. It gave her the chills (click to read more of the sample and purchase)...
She, steadily walked down the busy road, yet there were no appropriate sidewalks and cars were whizzing by. At any given time, there may have been a million questions/comments/thoughts/replays/intentions and words traveling along the synapses of her nerve endings, overflowing her system and blowing her mind (click to read more of the sample and purchase)...
